Parent Involvement
Parents are a vital part of Woodward. They are welcomed and respected as the primary caregivers to their children. All parents are encouraged to visit the school regularly to stay in touch with this important part of their child's life. Parents come in to help out from time to time. They do cooking or art projects, read a story, sing a song, or simply join the class for a day. Woodward is fortunate to have a very active Parents Association that acts as a liaison to the school community and sponsors events such as the Fall Carnival, Spring Auction, International Picnic, Musical Storyteller, Science Museum Presentation and David Grover Concert. Parents comprise a large percentage of the members of Woodward's Board of Trustees. The Woodward Charitable Foundation continues to support the school, and parents have continued a long tradition of participation in fund-raising to help meet the annual budget. A staff consultant is available to meet with parents. In addition, parent workshops are held each month by a trained and experienced facilitor at the school.
